Case Study: Customer Feedback Campaign to Guide Mobile App Development

Overview

Fluid-Aire Dynamics was in the early stages of developing a new mobile application designed to give customers easier access to account information, service requests, and equipment management. Before investing further into development, the company needed direct feedback from customers to understand which features would deliver the most value.


To collect this insight efficiently, I developed and launched a targeted email campaign inviting customers to complete a short survey in exchange for a $25 Amazon e-gift card.

The Challenge

The primary challenge was generating meaningful customer feedback with minimal friction. Customers needed a quick and simple way to share their input without requiring a large time commitment.

 

Additionally, the campaign needed to:

  • Encourage participation with a clear incentive
     

  • Clearly communicate the benefits of the future mobile app
     

  • Gather actionable insights for product development
     

  • Achieve strong engagement from a B2B customer audience

Strategy & Execution:

I designed a streamlined campaign built around a required two-question survey, reducing the time required for participation while still capturing valuable insights.
The campaign included:
Email Campaign Development

  • Wrote and designed an email introducing the upcoming mobile app

  • Highlighted key planned features including:

  • Viewing account information and installed equipment

  • Accessing quotes, agreements, orders, and invoices

  • Requesting service directly through the app

  • Receiving push notifications for maintenance reminders and order updates

Customer Incentive

  • Offered a $25 Amazon e-gift card to encourage survey participation.
     

Survey Design

  • Created a simple survey asking:
     

    1. What additional features customers would like to see in the mobile app

    2. How likely they would be to use the app

  • Sent the campaign to 5,601 customers within the company’s CRM marketing platform.

Results:
 

The campaign generated strong engagement and valuable customer insights that helped guide future app development.

  • Survey Responses: Multiple qualitative responses providing product feedback

Impact:
This campaign provided the product and leadership teams with direct input from customers about which features would be most valuable in the mobile app.

  • Validating demand for service request and account access features

  • Providing customer-driven insights that informed development decisions

  • Strengthening engagement by inviting customers to participate in product innovation

 

The campaign demonstrated how simple, well-targeted feedback initiatives can generate actionable insights while maintaining strong customer engagement.
